Public Relations Chair (May 2019 – June 2020)

Daughters of Triton (DOTs) is the premier female-identifying a cappella group at UC San Diego. During my time in college, I was in the group for three years, starting from October 2017. I began serving as Vice President in December 2018, and my responsibilities included accomplishing logistical and organizational tasks on behalf of the group and planning events such as concerts, fundraisers, and other group events. Later on in May 2019, I additionally took on the role of Public Relations Chair. In this role, I maintained and cultivated our group's community presence on campus and online. This included designing print and digital marketing collateral and materials for all events, managing our social media platforms, and creating a new group website on WordPress. Throughout my time serving as Public Relations Chair, I significantly improved and increased our social media engagement and brand awareness by posting consistently on all platforms and utilizing stories more frequently. Most notably, I grew our Instagram following organically by more than 100%, from less than 300 followers to over 700 followers.

My three years in Daughters of Triton was definitely one of the highlights of my college experience, and I gained so many valuable skills, including communication, collaboration, social media management, and event planning. View some of my work below!

marketing collateral for "A Cappella Wants You!" (September 2019)
One accomplishment that I am especially proud of is when Daughters of Triton hosted "A Cappella Wants You!", an annual showcase to mark the start of the audition season at UCSD each September. This event is integral for the a cappella community because it introduces new students to a cappella and encourages them to audition for the groups. A different group hosts the event each year, and in 2019 the responsibility fell on DOTs. As Public Relations Chair and Vice President, I was solely in charge of all marketing materials, and I worked closely with our group's President to plan the event and work out all logistical details. Due to our meticulous efforts and detailed planning, the event exceeded our expectations, and it was a huge success. All of the groups experienced a surge of auditions compared to the previous years, and I was humbled to have been part of accomplishing something much bigger than myself. It was also a very memorable night full of music, good times, and an even greater community.
