Arts Administration Intern (January 2019 – June 2019)
ArtPower is UC San Diego's performing arts presenter, bringing artists from all over the world to perform concerts and shows at or near the UCSD campus. ArtPower's mission is to engage students and the San Diego community in diverse cultural life through various music, dance, and film events. Since 2019, I worked on the Marketing Team as an Arts Administrative Intern to create and implement marketing strategies for our events. I designed print and digital marketing collateral for display on campus, created social media content and graphics, and wrote captions for social media posts. After 6 months as an intern, I was promoted to the Junior Marketing and Graphic Design Assistant position. In this role, I supervised a team of students within the Marketing Team. As the team lead, I collaborated with my team to form marketing strategies, delegated and assigned tasks, and continued designing marketing collateral and creating social media content. I would manage my team's tasks along with my personal tasks, and I excelled in managing my time and staying on top of simultaneous projects with various deadlines. For each performer and event, I also researched their background and history in order to design their assets to align with their brand.
As someone who is passionate about the arts, working at ArtPower was a meaningful way to stay deeply connected with the arts while being introduced to the world of creative marketing. With my music background, I found great joy and satisfaction in marketing our diverse performing arts events to fellow UCSD students. I gained valuable experience in design and social media, but I also learned so much about communication and leadership, all while working with some of the most talented, creative, and uplifting people I have ever met.
